It’s been a busy week around the rock world so here’s a quick round up of some of the news stories that you might have missed…

Another busy week in rock which has seen Ghost announce details of their new album, Biffy Clyro announce an MTV Unplugged tour and much more. Here’s some of the other stories you might have missed.

1. Blanket Announce Debut Album Details ‘How To Let Go’
Following a run of tour dates with hotly-tipped contemporaries Coldbones, Blackpool cinematic-rock band Blanket have announced that their long-awaited debut album How To Let Go will see release on 18th May via Music For Nations (Sony). The album will be released on CD, vinyl and digital formats.


2. Belphegor Announce London Headline show
Death/black metal outfit Belphegor have announced a headline show at London venue The Dome on June 18th, with main support coming from their label mates, Sumerian black thrashers Melechesh. The ritual will be part of a larger European run titled the Summer Totenritual Crusade which will take the bands across eight countries.

3. Between The Lines to Release New EP on July 6
Between The Lines will release their new mini-ep entitled To The Wind on Friday 6th July. The UK pop punkers have received warm comparisons to everyone from Neck Deep and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! through to Four Year Strong and have just released a new track “Anywhere But Here”.


4. Nailed To Obscurity Sign to Nuclear Blast
Hailing from Northern Germany, Nailed To Obscurity have signed to Nuclear Blast. The band is currently writing new material for their forthcoming album: “It’s hard to find words that express how thrilled and proud we are to announce this signing. It goes without saying that Nuclear Blast with its rich history in heavy metal is one of the biggest – no, THE biggest – label in the scene and joining their incredible roster of so many legendary and influential artists is simply a dream coming true! 5. Candlemass to Release ‘House Of Doom’ EP
Doom legends Candlemass are back with a new EP. The House Of Doom EP comes with 3 bonus tracks and is a taster for their next long player due to be released in Fall 2018.

5. Man With A Mission Release New EP This Week.
Japanese superstars Man With A Mission have shared the video for their new track “Take Me Under”. It’s taken from their brand new four-track EP Take Me Under / Winding Road, out this week through Century Media.


6. Jesus Chrüesler Supercar to Support Bullet at London Show
Swedish death ‘n’ roll trio Jesus Chrüesler Supercar have been confirmed as Special Guest act at Swedish heavy metal five-piece Bullet’s upcoming 02 Islington Academy headline gig on May 16th. Jesus Chrüsler Supercar’s second album, 35 Supersonic, was released in April 2016 on Rodeostar / SPV.

7. State Champs Announce New Album Details
Pop punk heroes State Champs have announced their new record Living Proof will be released on June 15, 2018 on Pure Noise Records. Additionally, State Champs have released a new track “Dead And Gone” and an accompanying video directed by Chris Fleck Hernandez.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
