With a futuristic mixture of funk, soul, pop and, of course, rock, Brooklyn, NY-based quartet, Cosmonaut Radio is eclectic to say the least. But different is good, right? Correct! Armed with their brand new single “Fly Away”, the guys have busted out their bluesy guns for this teaser from the forthcoming EP, Creatures, slatted for a June 15th release. The track’s guitar riffage eventually morphs into a trip-hop groove that boils over into a steamy stream of saxophones and screams. Crazy, right? Told you! Check out some tour dates, plus the new song below, not to mention past tunes via Bandcamp.

Commenting on the single, the guys piped up and dropped this quote:

“‘Fly Away’ details the end of an increasingly toxic relationship in which both parties can feel the end closing in, but neither wants to be the first to admit that they’re giving up on the other. It’s a slow but hard-hitting rock track influenced by our love for Led Zeppelin, among other classic rock artists. This song is a bit of a detour for us, genre-wise, so it took a long time to iron out how to make it work and get the sounds we were looking for. It was written over three years ago and now, we’re happy to see it finished in all it’s glory. A fun recording fact: the guitar was recorded using three amplifiers and over 10 microphones recording at the same time.”
