Toronto rapper Drake didn’t offer any form of warning before dropping his new Scary Hours EP on Friday. The sudden two-song release — featuring new singles “Diplomatic Immunity” and “God’s Plan” — seemed to work for Drake lovers. Needless to say, it caught everyone by surprise and didn’t disappoint.

Let’s get to it with “Diplomatic Immunity”, which sees Drake’s description of his own lavish lifestyle. Why wouldn’t he want to describe it, especially when you are the ambassador of the Toronto Raptors and the head of OVO? Accompanied with lyrics of ups-and-downs is a beautiful orchestra with great bass. It is an easy listen, but maybe not for Jennifer Lopez.

Forecastin’ tornadoes, brainstormin’ retaliation at dinner tables. 2010 was when I lost my halo. 2017 I lost a J. Lo. A Rotterdam trip had me on front page though.

“God’s Plan” is #2 trending on hifi nation’s YouTube channel. Its upbeat tempo makes for a good song to play pretty much anywhere. Electronic synths are accompanied with some heavy bass, while lyrics speak of people wishing bad upon him. The message of the song is in the title.

Bad things. It’s a lot of bad things. That they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’.

Scary Hours Track Listing:

02. Diplomatic Immunity
