PVRIS’ gig at the O2 Academy Brixton was their largest headline show to date, only two years after they first headlined in London at Camden Barfly. The 5,000 capacity venue was sold out, and the anticipation before PVRIS walked on stage was electric. Later in the evening, as well as the front rows relentless jumping and singing, pockets of fans danced together on the sloped venue floor.

Lynn Gunn opened the show at the piano, playing “Heaven”, a single spotlight picking her out of the darkness on the cavernous stage. After “You and I” from 2014 release White Noise, Gunn confessed to the audience saying the night was surreal and she “kept wanting to wake up”.

The setlist continued with single after single including “Half”, “You and I”, “What’s Wrong” and “Anyone Else”. The only distraction from the impressive light show (featuring on-stage lamp posts) and stadium-worthy sound was Gunn’s constant fiddling with her earpiece, perhaps a result of nerves.

Back at the piano, there was a sudden silence on stage, Gunn had stopped playing – a spider falling from the ceiling onto her head caused her to stop and restart the song. After this, the show continued without a hitch until eventually finishing with an encore of “No Mercy”.
