There are rock stars and there are rock legends and Alice Cooper undoubtedly falls into the latter category demonstrated by the sea of black-clad goths, rockers and parents with their kids pouring into the First Direct Arena for the first night of his “Paranormal” Tour.
Playing a set that spanned his career, Alice Cooper strutted about the stage belting out classic after classic shock rock anthem. From the pounding “Lost in America” to the trashy hit single “Poison”. From the theatrical “Feed My Frankenstein” to new tracks like “Paranoic Personality” this was a set-list for all generations of Alice fans. As for the theatrics – well, this was the usual Alice Cooper fare from costume changes to the obligatory guillotine beheading – with the frontman and his suitably loud band pacing every inch of the stage pulling every rock pose out of the rulebook and displaying levels of energy that would put most rockers half his age to shame.
As a treat for the diehards, Alice brought out his old band to bash out a few classics like “No More Mr.Nice Guy” and “Billion Dollar Babies” bringing this opening night extravaganza to a riotous finale.
