Brooklyn based electronic duo, Shanghai Restoration Project (SRP) has released a new track called “Spooky Party” as a preview of their new album R.U.R.. The record was self-produced and recorded on their own in New York over the last year.

R.U.R. is a reaction to the current state of the world and imagines a world where humans have been replaced by robots attempting to understand what led to the extinction of the humans. Through a time capsule, the robots learn about the more noble endeavours of humanity, such as art, science and agriculture, as well as their worst attributes like narcissism, materialism and environmental degradation. Through this learning process, they wonder if the universe will ever see these ‘peculiar’ beings again. The title R.U.R. is from the 1920’s Czech play Rossum’s Universal Robots where the word robot originated.
