Lydia Lunch is a legendary musician, poet, author and actress from New York who started out in the punk scene at CBGB. She’s released many works, including collaborations with artists such as Nick Cave, and keeps coming at her audience with tours and releases from her bands including Lydia Lunch Retrovirus and Brutal Measures. The Dead Boys even wrote a song about her! Not one to rest, she’s hitting the road again with Brutal Measures (also featuring Weasel Walter) and their one and only Canadian stop will be at Cherry Colas in Toronto this Saturday, October 14th. (Tickets are available at www.ourevent.ca.) We caught up with Lydia to find out a little more about what makes her tick.

Lydia Lunch: C’mon…myself & Weasel Walter (Brutal Measures).

What is your favorite record of all time?
Lunch: Berlin by Lou Reed.

What is your favorite memory at a Toronto show?
Lunch: Michael Dent having his pants pulled down at the RETROVIRUS show.

What was your favorite live show you ever saw?
Lunch: The Birthday Party… any of their live shows.

Who is your biggest non musical influence?
Lunch: Marquis De Sade.

Who is your least favorite band or musical artist ever?
Lunch: Too may to fricking name….

What is your favorite book?
Lunch: Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller.

What is your favorite movie?
Lunch: Singapore Sling by Nikos Nikolaidis.

What is your favorite drink?
Lunch: Like my favorite drug or sexual position, it changes all the time….

What are your favorite words of wisdom?
Lunch: Pleasure at the brink of the disaster.
