Utah’s The Ditch and The Delta have released “Till Body Quits,” a track off of their debut record Hives In Decline. The record shows the band further exploring different aspects of sound design within their unique version of doom and sludge metal. The songs employ different tunings and modal centers which helps the band avoid many of the usual doom trappings of excessive feedback, static harmony, and pentatonic riffs. Lyrically, the album deals with themes of resentment for the mono culture that the three band members had to endure living in Mormon-dominated Utath.
Bassist/vocalist Kory Quist recently said, “If it’s possible to have a cheesy sentiment like “be all you can be” wrapped in pessimism, this song is it. It’s about meaninglessness, living hard and pushing yourself hard, till body quits.”
