Osheaga Festival: Day 1 (w/ Lorde, MGMT, Tove Lo) @ Parc Jean-Drapeau (Montreal, QC) on August 4, 2017 [Photos & Recap]

Day 1 started off sunny, and although I anticipated rain in the forecast I was not expecting a torrential rainfall which made the first day interesting.

Coming to the Osheaga Festival this year was a bit of surprise as the organizers had changed the whole layout of the grounds and arrangement of the stages. Mostly, I liked it, and it provided some improvements to past years; there was some trade off though as the stages felt much smaller, accommodating for the size of the grounds, as well as the long line to exit the venue.

Day 1 started off sunny, and although I anticipated rain in the forecast I was not expecting a torrential rainfall which made the first day interesting. I was quite disappointed not seeing Angel Olsen due to the rain and lightning in the far distance, but things recommenced with London Grammar over on the side stage.

Tove Lo turned up the dial and the heat before it simmered down during MGMT. The day ended with another wicked rainstorm during Lorde’s joyous performance. She had to abruptly stop her show at Lollapalooza due to rain and lightning this year after three songs, but the heavy rainfall couldn’t stop her here at Osheaga.

Highlight of the night included Lorde bringing out Tove Lo for “Homemade Dynamite”, which they co-wrote together and a surprise cover from Montreal native, Martha Wainwright’s “Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole”.
