Declaime Interview; Underground Hip-Hop Sensation Discusses His New Single “Internally Yours”

“Internally Yours” is a must-listen track taken from Declaime‘s new album Young Spirit, released August 18th via SomeOthaShip Connect and Entertainment One Music. Just a week after the recording’s debut and the single is soaring on SoundCloud with just under 30,000 plays.

This hit track is but a glimpse of what’s to come. The underground captain has just showcased what’s arguably his best work to date and it’s only going to get better. In the midst of all his music, Internally Yours has gained a lot of recognition. The psychedelic synths and lyrical fusion of abuse and crime is so touching you might just get goosebumps. What makes matters even better, is that Declaime is a man of integrity. He isn’t in this for the money. He is in it to show you his talent and tell you a story.

We recently spoke in brief with Declaime via email, asking about the single “Internally Yours”.

What is it about “Internally Yours” that makes you most proud?
Declaime: What makes me most excited about the track is that I finally got the chance to work with Blu… one of the coldest and most creative cats I know on the mic. Also, the fact that I got to once again work with the Great ms.1.

How did you come up with the idea to incorporate a background voice that says, “Lives inside of you” in between the lyrics?
Declaime: It was more of a spontaneous action… Wasn’t planned but it fit quite well.

Do you feel this will be the biggest hit on your new album Young Spirit?
Declaime: Not by a long shot, haha. It is a great song featuring two truthful and thought-provoking artists who didn’t sacrifice their truths and positivity for the dolla bill though.
