If you need a break from the daily grind in which many of us are trapped, take a listen to folk/indie band 5j Barrow and this free download of their single “Seagreen Dress”. Founded by Eryn Murman and Jason Hite about five years ago, they were named “Best Band in NY” when they won The Green Space WNYC/WQXR‘s ‘Battle of the Boroughs 2014.’
The group built their following on the streets of the city and engaged with their audiences, no matter what the size, through both intimate and rousing performances. Their debut album From The Dim Sweet Light came out in 2014 and now the time has come for its follow-up, due this fall. The album was produced by Grammy nominated producer, David Mayfield.
Commenting on “Seagress Dress,” Hite said, “Simply put, it’s an ode to all those great old time love songs. They’re so simple, but they make me believe in love in a way that some more in depth, intricate, critical songs fail to accomplish. It’s a love that everyone can relate to and find for themselves.”
