“Face to Face”, the first single from LA indie group Beachwood Coyotes, is a predictable, poppy journey through a bad breakup.

For a song that was supposedly inspired by the lead singer’s acid trip, it’s unremarkable. Although the opening chords and background beat are catchy, for the most part, this song is pretty banal. Its lyrics, like “I’m sorry but are these words killing you? / I’m sorry but does my worth bother you?/ Try living with the pain”, sound more like a boy band’s description of their feelings than anything new in indie rock.

Overall, although it might make you nod along if it plays on your local radio station, “Face to Face” has no truly distinct flavour and doesn’t stand out or encourage another listen.
