Frankenmuth, Michigan rock band Greta Van Fleet has shared their debut track “Highway Tune”, a gritty rock tune straight out of the 70s. The track comes alongside the news that the band have signed to Lava/Republic Records, who are releasing the song. The song is being released ahead of the band’s debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, which was recorded in Detroit by Al Sutton (Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr.) and Marlon Young (Kid Rock) at Sutton’s Ruse Belt Studios, and is due out on April 21st.

Lava Records President Jason Flom commented on the band’s potential: “Greta Van Fleet is the future of real Rock & Roll. They’ve got the chops, the swagger and the songs to make their mark as the band of their generation.”

The young band comprises twin brothers Josh Kiszka (vocals) and Jake Kiszka (guitars), younger brother Sam Kiszka (bass), and best friend Danny Wagner (drums), who collectively write and perform all the material from scratch. The band collectively cite a range of influences, musically and otherwise, including Jimi Hendrix, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Tchaikovsky and The Who, as well as The Lord of the Rings, Apocalypse Now, Robert Frost and Ernest Hemingway.

Bassist Sam Kiszka says: “Our dream is for people to just give our music a listen. We want to give people a positive experience so they give out good energy themselves. If you’re having a bad day, listen to some good music and everything gets better. We want to be part of that.”

Furthermore, Greta Van Fleet has also landed a deal with William Morris Endeavour, meaning the talent agency will represent them worldwide. The band have already confirmed a small string of tour dates with The Struts in May, with more dates and festival appearances expected throughout the year.

Marc Geiger of William Morris Endeavor commented: “My hair stood on end when I first heard this band, similar to the first time I heard Jane’s Addiction, and that has been the response from everyone here in the music division. This band has so much power and artistry – and they can write. We are all very, very excited about them.”

Kiszka added: “We are absolutely amazed at how on board people at Lava and WME are about us. Even though we are confident in our music, we never imagined interest in us of this magnitude. The dates with The Struts will be our first real tour, so we are very excited to live life on the road, see new places and meet new people. Personally, I’m really looking forward to not sleeping in my own bed for awhile.”
