L.A. band In This Moment turned Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall into a heavy metal freak show, creep show, and all around carnival of horrors on April 16th. The “Half God Half Devil Tour” also features Motionless In White and Swedish rockers Avatar.

Avatar, who were in Toronto for the first time, didn’t disappoint. Dressed in what appeared to be vintage carnival costumes, the crazy energy of frontman Johannes Eckerstrom, mixed with the guitarists’ windmill metal hair spinning kept the crowd enthralled.

Then things just got freakier and creepier as Motionless In White stepped on stage. Accompanied by a ghoulish but at the same time kind of sexy clown, throwing Halloween candy to the crowd from a jack-o-lantern, then shooting water overhead. If that wasn’t enough, she also brought out an axe, accosting singer Chris Cerulli during a song, not to mention jumping off stage with a hangman’s noose and running into the crowd.

When “In This Moment” hit the stage you almost couldn’t see singer Maria Brink through all the fog being pumped out. When it finally did clear “somewhat” she appeared almost as the Indian god Vishnu. There was a wardrobe and set change after almost every song and it was quite the theatrical production. This was my first time seeing In This Moment live and did they ever impress! To put it bluntly, what a fucking amazing show!
