Canadian rockers Danko Jones kicked off their cross-Canada tour, promoting their latest album release Wild Cat, to a sold-out crowd at the intimate concert venue Maxwell’s in Waterloo, ON.
Canadian rockers Danko Jones kicked off their cross-Canada tour, promoting their latest album release Wild Cat, to a sold-out crowd at the intimate concert venue Maxwell’s in Waterloo, ON. Opening band Royalfuzz, a rock outfit from Toronto, ON, primed the crowd and set the pace for a high-energy night of good ol’ fashioned classic rock.
Danko Jones took the stage to a roar of applause and cheers from their enthusiastic audience. The three-piece band kicked things into high gear right from the get-go, launching into hard-hitters “I Gotta Rock,” “Play the Blues,” and “Sugar Chocolate” one after the other. When it came time for “First Date,” the crowd was singing along with such fervor that Danko decided to step back and let them take the lead for a few bars of the chorus.
The best part of a Danko Jones show is that there are no surprises. The band is every classic rock trope stitched together—in the best possible way. The fans at Maxwell’s definitely got their money’s worth, as the band played a full 18 song set (plus a 3 song encore) with the energy, showmanship, and entertainment you can be guaranteed to expect from any Danko Jones show.
