Sometimes you just discover a band by complete accident and that’s exactly how I discovered The Darkhorse. Randomly sitting bored one day flicking through videos on Facebook, stuck in the middle of a plethora of Ozzy Man reviews videos and cats being dicks my senses were hit with a wall of riffs and beards. The band in question was The Darkhorse and a couple of weeks later their new album dropped into my inbox.
Continuing where their video left off, The Carcass Of The Sun Will Sleep is an eight track slab of big beards, dirty riffs and guttural vocals. It’s a sweaty rollercoaster ride of an album with tracks like “March Of The Infected” and “We Fear None But Our Own” sounding like the ugliest bits of Hatebreed, Lamb Of God and Black Label Society all rolled into one big ball of brutality. The Carcass Of The Sun Will Sleep is full of wall-shaking riffs which climaxes in gloriously heavy fashion as the UK quartet bring your world crashing down with the thunderous “Congratulations, You’ve Survived The Human Cull”.
Without wanting to pigeonhole The Darkhorse, you only need to take one look at their four faces to know that The Carcass Of The Sun Will Sleep is going to be the kind of metal album that has no intentions of being anything else. The Darkhorse deliver big, fat dirty riffs by the bucketload and so, while the carcass of the sun will sleep, crank up the likes of “Dead Crows” to anything near full volume and you can guarantee the neighbours won’t.
