It’s emotional night here in Leeds as punk rock favourites Yellowcard wind down their final ever UK tour with a date tagged on to make up for their problem-littered set at Slam Dunk earlier in the year. With fans well aware this will be one of the final chances to see the band in the UK, it’s no surprise that there are no vantage points left in the venue as the band take to the stage making good their promise to play hit album Ocean Avenue in full.

“Did anyone come to see us at that disaster that was Slam Dunk?” jokes frontman Ryan Key before the band rattle out every single moment, from start to finish, of Ocean Avenue. The crowd loves every minute of it and, despite the band suffering from the lurgy, they make sure they sign off giving fans who’ve travelled from all over, a memory that will live with them long after this chapter in punk rock history closes.

An hour or so later and it is all over. It’s an emotional farewell for the band and fans but, for both, it’s also a night that couldn’t have been more of a fitting UK finale for one of punk rocks most loved bands.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
