You Me At Six @ Rock City (Nottingham, UK) on October 13, 2016 [Photos & Show Review]
Putting in a massive performance in Nottingham on their recent sold-out UK tour, Youmeatsix showed in Nottingham how much they have grown as a band over the years. Check out our review and photos here…

You Me At Six’s ‘Night People’ tour was attracting a lot of attention, it felt bigger and more powerful than anything they had done previously. This gig at Rock City was the first of their dates to sell out on this tour and you couldn’t have fit more people in the 2,500 capacity venue if you tried. People were standing 4 deep all across the balcony and filling the stairs, the only place I could find to see the stage was huddled in the stairway next to the mixing desk.
The band came onto the stage in near complete darkness to the low hum and drum beat of “When We Were Younger” before upping the tempo with “Bite My Tongue”. The light show had such dramatic flair it enhanced the intensity and emotion of each song. Josh Franceschi took a moment during the gig to tell fans that “this was the happiest he had felt in years”, and that there had come a point in You Me At Six’s career where they wanted the continue “only if they could do more than just make music”. In fact, the guest list had a mandatory £5 minimum donation, the proceeds of which were going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
During “Forgive and Forget” and “Lived a Lie”, Franceschi asked the fans to get someone they loved on their shoulders, and within seconds the floor was peppered with double-height fans, arms outstretched towards the stage. Backed with bronze-gold lighting this was one of the most intimate parts of the set, and it felt like the whole venue was breathing with the music and the band, as everyone was moving in time.
The gig ended on a high with “Room To Breathe” and “Night People” with everything about tonight – from the light show to their interaction with the fans – showing how much this band has grown over the years,
