Fuzz Evil is desert rock by definition. Seriously… they call Sierra Vista, Arizona home and it doesn’t get more desert than that other than, well, maybe Sky Valley… BUT we’re talking about Fuzz Evil! Never heard of them? No problem! I’ll give you a quick rundown….

Not only have they’ve been putting out dusty jams that are as sharp as cacti needle since 2014, but the trio’s Rudell brothers have also been the driving force behind Arizona’s stoner rock palooza, Borderland Fuzz Fiesta. The festival takes place in the “old pueblo” of Tucson, Arizona and, though only in its infancy, has hosted such stoner rock favorites as Fireball Ministry, Wo Fat and Mos Generator. Now let’s talk about that fuzz!

Fuzz Evil has six songs that rock as hard as most of the genre’s other stoner rock albums. There are dozens of super-hooky riffs and the compositions get straight to the point without getting too far out into the tumbleweeds. The guitar and bass tones are both fuzzy and evil, and the drums are rock solid throughout the mix. I’m going to say that “Good Medicine” and “My Fuzz” are my favorite tracks on Fuzz Evil. There’s a retro FM radio station Album Rock feel to those songs and if rock was still king of the airwaves, Fuzz Evil would be reaping the rewards.

Now, it’s up to those that take the time and put effort into discovering new and exciting bands such as Fuzz Evil to spread the word. Fuzz Evil’s Battleground Records debut, Fuzz Evil, is a testament that they’re only getting better with experience. Great things are on the beautiful Sonoran horizon… so, what are you waiting for?
