Canadian Noise Rockers LAMPSHADES Unveil New Song “Thrills” [Exclusive Premiere]
Today, we get to treat you to an advanced listen of the song “Thrills”, taken from the forthcoming EP, In Medias Res, from Toronto, Canada’s noise rock outfit, Lampshades.
While traditionally a lampshade might help to diffuse the light which a lamp emits, that is certainly not the case with Toronto, Canada’s noise rock outfit, Lampshades. Nothing about their sound is diffused. In fact, it’s quite the opposite… their sound is totally amplified!
The group formed in 2015 and have since borrowed elements of the 80s noise rock scene and upped the ante with both a modern twist as well as the members’ own frenetic energy. Today, we get to treat you to an advanced listen of the song “Thrills”, taken from their forthcoming EP, In Medias Res.
In Medias Res is set for a December 9th, 2016 release and, as with some of the band’s other work, deals with their “thematic preoccupations with the disengagement and disenfranchisement found within the urban landscape.”
So, long story short, you a fan of Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, and/or Nick Cave? Then why the hell aren’t Lampshades on your #RockRadar? Said the dudes of “Thrills”, “‘Thrills’ is about a nostalgia overdose on a hazy afternoon.”
