After previously releasing two EPs and having played with the likes of Max Raptor, Alien Ant Farm, Rival Sons, GUN, Press To Meco and many more, West Midlands five piece Liberty Lies are issuing their new single “Are You Listening?” on October 14th, 2016 and are exclusively premiering the track right here.

Recorded with Romesh Dodangoda (Sylosis, FFAF, Bring Me The Horizon, Motorhead and more), “Are You Listening?” merges nu-metal tinted guitars and distorted bass with prog-infused vocals, which at times call to mind the sound of Protest The Hero. Elsewhere you can hear nods to the bands many other influences with driven instrumental sections and powerful screaming sections that could feel at home in a letlive song, this is supplemented by melodic phrasing which is redolent of Alter Bridge, or at times, even Fair To Midland. It’s clear that the band are more than capable of taking the essence of the bands that they love and distilling it into their own brand of alternative rock.

Speaking about the new single, drummer Adam Stevens said, “This is our heaviest song to date, and the one that we are most proud of. We’ve managed to find the sound that we have been trying to capture for years. The song was born out of frustration in the practice room and with the industry itself.”

With extensive touring already under their belts, the band head out in November on tour with Saliva, SOiL and Sons Of Texas.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
