Again this year, there will be a variety of different events in the city of Montreal before, during and after the Heavy Montreal festival presented by Molson Canadian!

Grouped under the flap Heavy city, these multiple evenings will discover other aspects of rock and metal music.

GRIMPOSIUM THIS:
DOOMED TO DEATH

Grimposium bring together key players in the metal scene, including musicians, journalists, visual artists, filmmakers and heavy music fans at events taking place in Katacombes and Concordia University. Here is the detailed schedule of events presented within Grimposium:

August 4: DEATH by MetaL – VA114 Cinema (Concordia University)
Do not miss the exclusive premiere of the movie “DEATH by Metal” followed by a discussion with director Felipe Belalcazar. A bilingual conference on industry and a death metal singing workshop will also be part of the evening. These events are all free!

August 5: Misery Index – Katacombes
Be present during a live interview with Repulsion group, followed by a show with performances of Misery Index, Vastum, and Vengeful Cardinal Wyrm.

Dressed in spandex, your favorite fighters are back, and this time – without their gloves! Come see the muscular monster FRANKY the Mobster, hardcore hero Heavy Montreal, THE GREEN PHANTOM; SEXXY EDDY, you never seen without his Speedo; SHAYNE HAWKE, the Scottish fueled with alcohol, and of course, your favorite Quebec vulgar, THE TEAM OF TABARNAK!More than 30 opponents square off over the weekend at this fight more qu’excitant event! Make noise, Montreal, and be sure to reserve your spot near the stage … hands will be raised, fists will be broken, and it will INTENSE!

Under the creative direction of Fred Caron, Heavy Arts is proud to present several artistic and creative nature of facilities that will be installed on the new Heavy Montreal festival site. With their new locations on the Plain of games at Parc Jean-Drapeau, these facilities could serve as benchmarks as decorative elements for Heavy Montreal.

For the edition 2016, several iconic works will be back plus some new stuff! Here are some examples of what you can expect to Montreal for Heavy arts component this year:

REAPERS
Fred Caron

These four characters inspired by the world of imaging Rock ‘n Roll became emblems of the festival as they appear in the 2015 edition.

HEAVY MONTREAL MARQUISE

Inspired by the poster created in 2014 for the Festival, an awning emblazoned with the letters of the official logo will be installed as standard bearer on top of the main stage.

TREE LIGHTS 4U2C

To decorate festival as well as ensuring safety, an exclusive lighting design will be created in collaboration with the 4u2c studio, illuminating the trees and underbrush once the sun sets.

EXPLOZONES

These immersive art installations created by Canadian artist Fred Caron, will be reused for the Osheaga activation. A selection of 3 units will be installed on the festival site for the edition 2016 of the festival. Artists will be invited to paint each piece to create a completely unique world for this festival.
