We are 9 days away from HEAVY MONTRÉAL presented by Molson Canadian taking place August 6 & 7 at Plaine des Jeux at Parc Jean-Drapeau and the festival wants to make sure you don’t miss a thing. The Heavy Experience is everything you need to know to make sure you live the full HEAVY MONTRÉALadventure!

HEAVY IN THE CITY:

Once again this year, an array of different events will take place throughout the city of Montreal before, during and after this year’s edition of Heavy Montréal! Grouped under the name Heavy in the City, these various happenings will allow fans to discover new aspects of the rock and metal genres.

Grimposium presents: Doomed to Death
Grimposium will bring together key players in the global metal scene including musicians, journalists, visual artists, writers, filmmakers and fans of heavy music at events hosted both at Concordia University and Katacombes bar. Here are the events presented as part of Grimposium:August 4th: DEATH by MetaL – VA114 Cinema (Concordia University)

Don’t miss out on the exclusive film premiere of “DEATH by Metal!” A discussion with director Felipe Belalcazar, a bilingual industry panel and a death metal vocal workshop will also take place. All events are free and open to the public!

August 5th: Misery Index – Katacombes

Come participate in a free panel with death metal band Repulsion followed by a concert with Misery Index, Vastum, Vengeful and Cardinal Wyrm!

Heavy Montréal presents: The official after-parties

August 6^th: Official After Party @ Katacombes
The party doesn’t have to end when everyone leaves the Parc Jean-Drapeau site. Head to Katacombes right after the first night of the festival to get that extra dose of heavy music thanks to performances by SUMAC, Jon Mueller and nordra!

August 7^th: Heavy Montreal Official After Party @ L’Astral
Come end the festival on a high note with Swedish metal band Cult of Luna who will perform their 2006 release “Somewhere Along The Highway” in its entirety!

HEAVY MANIA

For the fourth consecutive year, The Order of the Red Hand, in association with Heavy Montreal and Jack Link’s, is proud to present the return of HEAVY MANIA: HAND OVER FIST, a risk-taking, chair-swinging, beer-drinking, no holds barred demolition derby of flesh, blood, and most of all fun!

Your favourite spandex-clad combatants are back, and this time, the gloves are off! Come see mammoths of muscle like FRANKY THE MOBSTER; Heavy Montreal’s Hardcore Hero THE GREEN PHANTOM; never seen without his Speedo SEXXXY EDDY; alcohol fueled Scotsman SHAYNE HAWKE; and of course – Quebec’s favourite foul-mouthed French Canadians, LE TABARNAK DE TEAM!

Over 30 combatants will clash over the course of the weekend in the most exciting pro wrestling spectacle you will ever see! Bring the noise Montreal, and save your spot near the Heavy Mania stage early… hands will be raised, fists will be broken, and most of all, it will get EXTREME!

HEAVY MONTRÉAL ARTS

Under the creative direction of Fred Caron, Heavy Montréal Arts is proud to present several artistic installations that will grace the brand new site of the Plaine des Jeux at Parc Jean-Drapeau.For the 2016 edition, there will be a mix of both emblematic pieces that have been part of the Heavy brand in previous years, as well as brand new installations. Here are a few examples of what you can expect in the arts component at Heavy this year:

REAPERS by Fred Caron
These four characters inspired by imagery from the Rock n Roll world have become tokes of the festival ever since their appearance in 2015.

HEAVY MONTREAL MARQUISE by Pat Hamou
Inspired by the festival poster created in 2014, an awning adorned with the letters of the official HEAVY logo will be installed on top of the main stage.

LIGHT TREES 4U2C
To decorate and ensure the safety of festivalgoers, an exclusive lighting design will be created in collaboration with 4U2C studio, illuminating the trees and the forests once the sun sets.

EXPLOZONES
These immersive artistic installations, created by Canadian artist Fred Caron, will be reused from the Osheaga activation. A selection of artists has been chosen to paint each piece in order to create an entirely unique creation for this year’s edition.

Invited Artists :

OLIVIER BONNARD (Montreal)
A rising star in the arts scene, Olivier’s work is situated somewhere between the illustrated images of our youth and the conventional techniques of some of the biggest artists.

MELISSA DEL PINTO (Montreal)
This contemporary artist creates pieces in collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the Opéra de Montréal. Some of her works have been exhibited in some of the biggest hotels and restaurants in the world.

YOUNG JARUS (Toronto)
Young Jarus is one of the most popular muralists on the planet at the moment.
