RIVER BECOMES OCEAN List Their TOP 10 Songs They Wish They Had Written [Exclusive]
Recently, Brighton-based alternative/post-hardcore quartet River Becomes Ocean got together, had some pints and shared with us their TOP 10 songs they with they had written.
Brighton-based alternative/post-hardcore quartet, River Becomes Ocean, will release their new 5-track EP, December, (pre-order it RIGHT HERE) on June 21, 2016 so we’re helping them to promote the album. And, what better way to do so then with something fun? Recently, the band got together, had some pints and shared with us their TOP 10 songs they with they had written.
10. Madina Lake – “Let’s Get Outta Here”
An amazing rock anthem that makes our heads instantly bang when on the road. We are always up for an argument whether the lyrics say “Wet beaches” or “Wet bitches and dry martinis”. If it was our song, we would have gone with the “beaches”. Obviously….
09. Underoath – “Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear”
This song is always hitting us with its epicness. Let’s not even talk about the ending! It is HUGE!
08. Justin Timberlake – “Rock Your Body”
We really listen to every style of music. Be it classical pieces to brutal metal. But Pop is also on our list. We are still debating if we rather would have written the song, or have the ability to dance like Justin, though.
07. Peter Gabriel – “Sledgehammer”
If there is a song we can’t let our drummer Dorian listen to when he is driving, it is that one. He will start air-drumming instantly. Which is not ideal whilst behind the wheel….
06. Getaway Plan – “Red Flag”
The song is cleverly based around the same hookline, yet still very progressive and flows dynamically perfect.
05. Atreyu – “Bleeding Is A Luxury”
Atreyu has a big influence on our songwriting, although you might not be able to actually hear it. This song strikes with its simplicity, yet is heavy, greatly arranged and sticks in your head.
04. Toto – “Rosanna”
This rock classic is never missing on our playlist. Every band has this one classic hit they wish they would have written. Well, here is ours.
03. Imogen Heap – “Hide And Seek”
Another song, that catches emotions in a great way. The way that the vocoder is used in this ballad, mixed with the lyrics, gives us goosebumps every time we listen to it.
02. Alan Silvestri – “Feather Theme”
It catches the emotions for the Forest Gump movie brilliantly. The arrangement, its childishness, seriousness and sadness combined, have a lot of influence on our cinematic approaches.
01. Queen – “Bohemian Rhapsody”
It’s our ultimate favourite song. A masterpiece, which we enjoy listening to on tour a lot. We were also thinking of doing a cover for it, but Panic At The Disco were faster….
