Impericon Festival @ Academy 2 (Manchester, UK) on May 2, 2016 [Photos]

Impericon Festival 2016 rolled into the UK and our photographer braved the pit in Manchester to bring back shots of Emmure, Despised Icon, Northlane and headliners Hatebreed…

Impericon Festival rolled into the UK for the first of two shows in 2016. A packed Manchester Academy 2 was treated to a line-up featuring underground heavyweights like Emmure, Chelsea Grin and Despised Icon with the day-long event being headlined by metalcore titans Hatebreed. Our photographer Graham Finney braved the pit to bring back these shots from the metal and hardcore all-dayer.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.

Concept Cafes tell us:

“Collaborating with the Tribe, we wanted to accomplish two things with ‘Blood Brothers’…: 1) further push the initiative that Metal has a place in the coffee world beyond the burnt leftovers from the factory floor & 2) share the often overlooked, yet some of the best coffee in the world, that comes out of Brazil. The collective challenge was how do you package 40 years of legacy from such an influential & integral part of Metal history into a bag/can of coffee…? Furthermore, how do you represent Brazilian culture, and most importantly, how do you humbly present the best offering to metalheads around the world? But Max & Iggor, and the rest of the Cavalera Tribe, actually made it pretty easy for us once we started working with them. When you see the level of passion & devotion they have for the music and touring for the fans, it really is awe-inspiring; so everything kinda just started to come together on this project ‘organically’. Marina (Concept’s head artist) & I had the initial idea that if we could make everything organic enough to pay tribute to Max’s love for camo, we might just pull this off. How’d we do…? LOL”

Max & Iggor’s “Blood Brothers” coffee was a semifinalist in the coffee industry’s prestigious 2023 Sprudgie Awards (the equivalent of the Grammys in the coffee world).

You can pre-order Max & Iggor Cavalera’s Official ‘Blood Brothers’ Coffee Cold Nitro Brew Cans available in espresso, non-dairy latte & flavoured latte versions here.

Brace yourselves for the sonic onslaught from Cassetta, a greater Los Angeles hardcore group that has released their latest sonic juggernaut, “Give Them Nothing.” This blistering single has permeated streaming services, hitting platforms including Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, and all major DSPs.

Drawing from the deepest, most primal recesses of musical intensity, Cassetta masterfully melds influences from past and present hardcore/metal favourites, forging a relentless, bone-crushing wall of sound that will leave listeners breathless. The accompanying live performance video of “Give Them Nothing” is slated for release on the band’s official YouTube channel in the coming weeks.

“Give Them Nothing” stands as a testament to the band’s uncompromising vision, self-produced and mixed by Jeff Dunne, known for his work with heavyweights such as Knocked Loose, Make Them Suffer, Veil Of Maya, and Emmure. Cassetta’s ethos is one of raw power, eschewing frills in favour of unadulterated hardcore energy, with vocalist Conor Eaton’s introspective lyrics guiding listeners through a dark, deeply personal journey.

Comprised of vocalist Conor Eaton (The Keeper), guitarist/songwriter Kevin Fifield (Pressure Cracks/Scars of Tomorrow), Marc Motley (The Arson Choir), Bob Bradley (Fake Figures/Scars of Tomorrow), and Alex Lopez (Suicide Silence), Cassetta is a powerhouse collective poised to dominate the hardcore scene.

In addition to the forthcoming single, Cassetta has also unveiled a limited edition two-song cassette featuring their previous hits, “Swallow the Sun” and “Thin Blue Crime.” This exclusive cassette, accompanied by enamel pins and two distinct shirt designs, is available now via the band’s official Bandcamp store.

Following much speculation online, Bullet for my Valentine and Trivium have revealed details of a huge, joint arena tour at a press conference which was streamed live from London’s Sanctum Hotel. The Poisoned Ascendancy UK Tour 2025 will see both bands celebrating the 20th anniversary of these respective iconic albums, playing them in full.

Bullet for my Valentine frontman Matt Tuck says:

“I honestly can’t believe it’s been 20 years since the release of The Poison, and what an incredible 20 years it’s been. I feel so proud of what we’ve achieved as a band in the last two decades and it all started with that debut album. The Poison is such an important part of our lives musically and personally and we know the massive impact it had on the metal world on a global level. This tour will be made even more special as our brothers in Trivium are also joining us on the road to celebrate and play in its entirety their stunning album Ascendancy.”

Matt Heafy of Trivium adds:

“Bullet For My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy are two records whose influence can be heard to this day – in the DNA of modern metal. It’s incredible to think of the impact the albums had when they came out in 2005. They were both like bolts of lightning. Both bands grew up independently of each other in different countries and separately from any movement or scene but both shared a common love of melodic heavy metal at the core; and both had similar meteoric rises right out of the gate.

Trivium and BFMV were in such whirlwinds when our respective albums came out that we each never truly got to play together or sit back and celebrate during the maelstrom of constant touring, recording and globetrotting. But that’s what this anniversary tour is. It’s a celebration by the bands to the fans of an important era, and most importantly it’s an invitation to fans come and have an epic night with us and sing and rage and celebrate the awesome power of the music.”

Tuck concludes:

“This is going to be the metal tour of 2025. Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium The Poisoned Ascendancy World Tour 2025. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of both albums and playing them in their entirety. Get excited people, it’s going to be special and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all.”
