U.K. pop-punk band Neck Deep is currently touring in support of the recent album, Life’s Not Out to Get You, and landed in Toronto this past Thursday for a performance at the Opera House.   However, to thrill fans that may not have been lucky enough to score tickets, the Welsh rockers player a short afternoon set at the HMV Underground at Yonge and Dundas in Toronto.

The HMV Underground, which hosts intimate events for up to 150 people, was the PERFECT setting for Neck Deep to get up and close and personal with fans, and vice versa.  The crowd welcomed band members Ben Barlow, Matt West, Dani Washington, Fil Thorpe-Evans and newcomer Sam Bowden for their short but oh-so sweet 3-song set that included “Gold Steps”, “Lime St” and “Can’t Kick Up the Roots,” the latter two of which are among  three bonus tracks on Life’s Not Out to Get You that are specific to Target stores and, of course, HMV.

Judging by audience reaction and those that were singing along, me included, it’s clear that fans can’t get enough of the band’s pop punk sound.  And, much to the delight of the crowd, they got a little bit extra when the band also played “Head to the Ground,” as the result of a fan request.

Lucky show goers were given the chance to meet and speak with the band afterwards, and happily took full advantage of the opportunity to pose for photos and get autographs.  It was the icing on the cake for the intimate experience.

Neck Deep is touring for the next four months across the United States and Europe.  Be sure to catch them if you can.  Judging by this HMV performance, you’ll be glad you did!
