To close off one hell of a year, getting to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra live was an amazing experience. Their Ghosts of Christmas Eve tour has been running since November 18th across Canada and the United States, and as usual, they never fail to disappoint the crowd of people that come out to see them year after year.
Starting off the show was two of the singers and one of the guitarists, Chris Caffery, presenting a cheque consisting of $1 for every ticket sold for the two Toronto shows, totalling a $12,667 donation to Community Care of St Catharine’s and Thorold. Caffrey told the audience that over 17 years of touring, they have been able to give back over $11 million to local communities with every show they do, which is truly an incredible thing for them to do.
The show itself was an experience, with insane visual displays, wicked musicians, pyrotechnics galore, and the one thing Toronto is lacking this Christmas: Snow! (Well, foam snow. It was still cool, alright?) These guys really know how to rock the stage, and bring the crowd to their feet or to tears. And for an extra touch from home, members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra made up the core strings section for the shows, led by electric violinist Roddy Chong.
If you ever get to see this show, take that opportunity and enjoy the hell out of it. Trans-Siberian Orchestra knows how to ring in the holiday season perfectly, and make every person in the audience, young or old, enjoy their night.
