Sine of the Lion – “Ossington” [Song Review]

This particular musical boat may have sailed out of port many years ago but this three minutes of unashamed hook filled nu-metal is a real treat!

Sine Of The Lion formed from the ashes of Abandon All Ships a band who, I have to admit, didn’t really come onto my radar during their career. However, when PGA big cheese Chris mentioned this new outfit in the same breath as Swedish rap-rock heavy hitters Clawfinger, he had my undivided attention.

Smashing together a simple, repetitive groove with the skittish delivery of the nu-metal scene, Ossington is three unashamed minutes of hard-hitting, hook-filled nu-metal. If you grew up on the ’90s/’00s nu-metal scene then you’ll recognize everything from the polished nu-metal guitar sound to the kind of groove that, back in the day, got moshpits bouncing, heads nodding, and rock dancefloors filling up before the first chorus has kicked in.

That being said, the nu-metal boat sailed out of port many years ago but, fuck it, who cares, a tune is a tune and, if Sine Of The Lion’s debut album is full of bangers like this one, we’re in for a real treat.

Run Time: 2:57

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
