Last Saturday afternoon I checked out Cloud Empire Creative‘s invite only, NXNE patio party at the Bovine Tiki Bar. It was actually the first time I’d been to the rooftop patio, and it was the perfect sunny, summer afternoon for it. Packed full of artists and industry it was the ideal event for mingling, and having a few colds ones which were provided graciously by Beau’s Brewing Company and Sailor Jerry.
A highlight for me was seeing Rob Moir perform again who I caught for the first time at Underground Operations showcase at CMW 2015. Billed as a ‘party’ I wasn’t expecting any performances, which Cloud Empire Co-Founder Mark Spicoluk said was part of the plan. His thoughts were that people get bombarded with so many shows during NXNE that they feel overwhelmed, by billing it as a party and a carefree good time, it takes some of the pressure off both the attendees and the artists. I thought it was a great idea and a really nice unexpected surprise.
If you haven’t already, you should check out both Cloud Empire Creative and Underground Operations, both are doing really awesome work for artists, and I look forward to seeing what’s next.
