Atarah Valentine – “Break Free” [Exclusive Music Video Premiere]

The Skinny: Summer is here and so too is Atarah Valentine. The arena rock futurist has debuted a new single and video “Break Free,” the title track to his forthcoming debut EP. Producer Michael Malih (Madonna) and Valentine worked together on Break Free, four songs drawing inspiration from glam, grunge and arena rock heroes like Bowie, Nirvana and Queen and the master craftsmanship of songwriters like Weezer. Four songs discussing friendship, reckless teenage nights and self-empowerment: the perfect summer soundtrack.

Over the past couple of years, with the guidance of several notable producers; Damian Taylor (Bjork, Prodigy, The Killers), Mark Saunders (Shiny Toy Guns, Erasure, The Cure), and Malih (Madonna, Leona Lewis,) Valentine has honed his distinctive and infectious style, fusing elements of arena rock, classic ’80s pop and ’90s grunge to create a sound uniquely his own. “Break Free,” the single, will be available in digital stores beginning July 6th. The song was written by A. Valentine and M. Malih while the video was directed by Taylor Ballantyne in collaboration with Lauren Renner.
