Against The Grain – “Road Warriors” [Album Review]
Road Warriors, the fourth full-length release from the Motor City rockers, Against The Grain, is a slab of raucous, raw and dirty rock and roll.

Road Warriors, the fourth full-length release from the Motor City rockers, Against The Grain, is a slab of raucous, raw and dirty rock and roll. There are no bells and whistles here to speak of; this is just straightforward guitar-oriented rock and roll with hints of doom, sludge, and a bit of hardcore punk thrown in for good measure.
Is this groundbreaking? Nah, but it is exactly what you would expect from a bunch of rock and rollers from Detroit, Michigan; it has a certain DIY-blue collar feel and, at times, is quite fun. Some stand out tracks for me are the punk-influenced “Guillotine,” the doomy “Nighttime” and the disc closer, “Nothing Left To Lose.”
I think the melding of genres definitely helps to keep things interesting and, at the end of the day, I feel that Road Warriors, despite it’s lack of originality, is a decent listen.
