Devilskin may be a household name back in New Zealand and, on the evidence on their debut album, We Rise it won’t be long before the rest of the planet knows who these rockers are…

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to Kiwi rockers, Devilskin. Hailing from New Zealand there’s not a huge proportion of folks in my native UK that have heard of them. However, on their own shores, they’ve made quite a name for themselves after forming in 2010. Devilskin released, this, their debut album We Rise, back in 2014, unfortunately their popularity didn’t spread globally as quickly as it did locally. Despite this, their gradually increasing fan base is gaining traction.

We Rise really is a spectacular album! Vocalist Jennie Skulander has a truly amazing voice, one of the best female lead singers I’ve heard in a long time. A haunting, beautiful sound that ranges from soulful to heavy seamlessly, which is backed up by three tremendous musicians. This album is packed full of great songs start to finish, overflowing with amazing riffs, hooks and melodic vocals. Opening track “Elvis Presley Circle Pit” will have you reaching for the volume control cranking it up to eleven. “Little Pills”, the band’s debut single, demonstrates why the group’s popularity is so well deserved. It is well worth checking out on YouTube to get a taste that will make you hungry for more! “Start A Revolution” is by far my personal favourite, Jennie’s amazing range of vocals is backed up by some excellent riffs.

In all honesty, I could go on and on about this album… put simply, I can’t stop listening to it! I therefore urge you, do yourself a solid and get these guys circulating your playlists.
