For many students across the globe, this week brings dreaded final exams, meaning sleep deprivation, bleak hopes, and an ungodly amount of caffeine. While I have been going through these desolate times myself these last few days, I was lucky enough to find the perfect study music to lift my spirits.

Tooth & Nail Records’ newest addition, Hearts Like Lions, have recently released an EP that is a little bit edgy, and very much charming. These Hands is a well-written, upbeat, and fun alt-rock compilation that is short and quite sweet. The track “Trust Me” is two-step city, fading and grooving at all the right times, while the title track is a soulful example of indie rock with the lyrics to match.

Reminiscent of Circa Survive and Saosin, Hearts Like Lions is great for pop-punk and indie lovers alike—or anyone who is a sucker for cheesy lyrics, like myself. This Long Beach, California indie trio has brought a little bit of sunshine to my finals week, and I’m sure they could do the same for anyone who gives them a chance!
