Death Valley Driver – “Carnivore’s Oath” [EP] [Album Review]

I am new to the Death Valley Driver camp and as such had no idea what I was in for when I sat down to listen to the band’s new 4 song EP, Carnivore’s Oath. I must say, after listening through all four tracks, I kind of dig the Southern-fried, somewhat blackened metal thing the band has going on.

Like something you would find on a Sabbath record, the riffs are big, doomy, and heavy. The harsh gravelly vocals and mid-paced tempo rhythms give the songs that more extreme metal vibe that is as unique as it is heavy. The EP only boasts 4 songs so my ride came to an abrupt halt in less than 20 minutes. A bit of a tease, yes, but the EP did whet my appetite enough that I will be going back to check out Death Valley Driver’s previous work.

02. Drowning In Silver
03. Carnivores Oath
