The Skinny: Today Kestrels release the first single off their new EP. The Moon Is Shining Our Way was produced by Alex Bonenfant (Metz, Crystal Castles) OUT July 1st via Sonic Unyon Records.
After releasing 2012’s A Ghost History (Sonic Unyon) and solidifying the band lineup, Halifax, Nova Scotia trio Kestrels (guitarist/vocalist Chad Peck, bassist Devin Peck, and drummer Paul Brown) decided to head into the studio to create a new release of fuzz pop gems. In 2013, the band entered Toronto’s Dream House Studios and The Moon is Shining Our Way EP is the result of this journey, a reinvigoration aided by a new partnership with producer Alex Bonenfant (METZ, Crystal Castles).
Mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Temples, Wild Nothing, Interpol), the four tracks of The Moon is Shining Our Way represent the new direction the band is heading in, capturing the passion and fervent nature of the band’s new live setup. Today, Noisey has premiered the blistering and melodic title track, which you can also listen to on Soundcloud.
