The Skinny: Chicago-based Empires are now streaming “Please Don’t Tell My Lover,” a new track off their upcoming EP How Good Does It Feel. The track premiered yesterday on Stereogum and the EP – which was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, War on Drugs, Black Angels) – will be released on Chop Shop/Island Records on June 17.
“Empires makes timeless music,” says Stereogum, “upbeat yet melancholy, pleasant but not saccharine, lyrics tangled up in the messy business of romance. These guys have their own thing going… and that is highly appropriate for the summer that is about to unfold before us.”
