Chronographs – “Flat White” [YouTube Song Stream]
In stark contrast to last month’s single “Porcelain”, with its dense arrangement and dark lyrical theme, Chronographs’ fourth track entitled “Flat White” is a shamelessly simple and bright Summer tune. The band explore yet another corner of alternative rock music with a bold up-beat song about spending Summer on the coast with a new partner.
The Skinny: In stark contrast to last month’s single “Porcelain”, with its dense arrangement and dark lyrical theme, Chronographs’ fourth track entitled “Flat White” is a shamelessly simple and bright Summer tune. The band explore yet another corner of alternative rock music with a bold up-beat song about spending Summer on the coast with a new partner.
Guitarist Tom Ridley says: “Each of these singles represents precisely what’s happening in our lives at this very moment, because if how quickly we’re writing and releasing music. ‘Porcelain’ described Jon’s grandpa’s battle with cancer, and how that affected the family. He sadly died last week, but rather than dwell on it, we’ve focused on the positives this month. Jon is wrapped up in a new relationship right now – you can hear it in his lyrics, and the music reflects how great that feels.”
