Nümph – “Theories of Light” [Album Review]
Theories of Light, the latest disc from Italian prog-rockers Nümph, is a phenomenal work of art in every sense of the word. Everything about this disc, from the cover artwork and 17 page booklet to the music, is absolutely top-notch. Nümph has created a lush, melodic musical landscape that is as breathtaking as it is technical and serves as the perfect backdrop to showcase some truly amazing musicianship.

At first listen it may seem that the songs are quite simple and generic, but that could not be farther from the truth. There is a lot going on in these songs, much more than can be comprehended the first time through, and after a few listens you begin to pick up on and appreciate all the intricate guitar and keyboard parts going on in the background. The powerful, emotive vocals of Marco Bartoli, layered perfectly over top of the music, take these songs to a whole different level making them much more than your average hard rock tunes; these are truly something special.
Theories of Light is not the fast, heavy aggressive music I usually listen to, but damn is it good! There is just a certain something about this record that I absolutely dig. I highly suggest picking up a copy and listening to it over a decent pair of headphones, like the Grain Audio IEHP – In Ear Headphones, so you don’t miss a thing!
