Interview with RDGLDGRN; Vocalist Green Talks about the Band, New Album, and Touring
I recently had a chance to sit down and chat with vocalist Green, from the rock/hip-hop act RDGLDGRN, about the band, their music, and upcoming tour. The trio plays an interesting style of genre-blending music that is as infectious as it is fun. Here is how the conversation went.

For those not familiar with RDGLDGRN could you tell us a little bit about the band?
Green: From Virginia. We met in high school and started making raps together. Those songs turned into rock songs then soon became indefinable….
What was the inspiration behind the concept of the band RDGLDGRN? What is the significance of the specific colors and how did you choose red, gold and green?
Green: The reason why we are COLORs is in the music. We urge everyone to listen closely. If you ever asked a kid what his favorite color was the answer would come pretty quickly. It was innate for us.

Dave Grohl and Pharrell Williams make appearances in your video for “Doing The Most”, how did that come about?
Green: It’s footage from when we worked together as well as us asking them to sit down for an interview.
What was it like working with such big name artists? Did you find it intimidating at all?
Green: Those guys are ridiculously humble and down to earth. They didn’t give us the time to feel intimidated because they helped us along the process and treated us as equals even though we damn sure aren’t!
How does it make you feel when the energy and power you envisioned in the studio comes to life in front of an audience?
Green: Feels like practicing free kicks for months at an open net, then finally making one in a game against a goalie.
Any rituals before you hit the stage? If so what are they?
Green: Nothing really.
Do you have any touring plans in support of the new release?
Green: We go out on tour with Aer starting January 31st in Boston @ House of Blues.
Times are tough these days. Do you have a job when you are not touring?
Green: Thankfully nope. And it needs to stay that way!
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have 3 CDs for the rest of your life, assuming you had a solar-powered CD player, what would they be?
Green: (1) “Thriller”, (2) “Abbey Road”, (3) “Midnight Marauders”.
What is next for you guys?
Green: An opera.
