Since their inception in late 2012, Heron has presented a black metal sound that has seen the four-piece begin to make a name for themselves in the North Carolina scene. Musically, the band’s sound presents an interpretation of the duality between ‘the raw bleakness of modern existence and the consoling environment they are steadily losing touch with’. Taking influence from bands such as Enslaved, Darkthrone and Emperor, Sacrifice depicts the contrast between the tranquility of nature and the harsh realities of modern life, which inspires the band to explore a highly original sound, taking elements of doom and progressive set over the back drop of black metal.
Having played a multitude of shows throughout North Carolina and neighboring States in 2013, Heron will continue to build on the momentum of their new record deal with a run of tours showcasing the EP throughout 2014 and into the Summer. The first of these comes in the form of April’s East Coast tour with Dreaded.
