If you’re in search of impossibly catchy melodies with a pop rock twist then check out this free download of “Nu Punk” from Connecticut’s Ovlov. The group is known for some extremely catchy melodies that are sure to stick in your head all day. Their brand new album Am arrived in July to critical acclaim for its dazzling and honest vocals, destructive hooks, and buzzing riffs. The band has long been a fixture of the East Coast underground scene thanks to their two well regarded EPs and a never ending presence on the road opening for the likes of JEFF The Brotherhood, Colleen Green, PAWS, Diarrhea Planet, Swearin’, Anamanaguchi, Ringo Deathstarr, as well as many shows with their pals California X, Speedy Ortiz, LVL UP, Fat History Month, Krill, Radical Dads, Dead Stars and countless others.
Ovlov formed in the Summer of 2008 and quickly got to work on their debut EP, 2009’s Crazy Motorcycle Jump. They kept on touring and then recorded 2011’s What’s So Great About The City which has served as a springboard to now their debut record. On Am, listeners will be instantly reminded of the glory days of My Bloody Valentine, The Pixies, Swervedriver, and Pavement. Ovlov brings back an element of the ’90s grunge sound along with their own unique twist on rock n’ roll. The band has been touring feverishly behind Am with much more to come through the rest of the year.
