Cathexis was founded through three good friends who, for years, listened to a vast array of metal together and developed a keen ear for technicality and the art of songwriting. In 2012, the band was officially incepted, and quickly went about writing and self producing their first LP Shades of Apocalypse. The goal of the music is to emphasize the marriage between powerful groovy hooks with a certain level of heaviness and complexity wrapped in a flowing and accessible style of songwriting. The death metal outfit took to the internet with the release where it received positive feedback, and internet radio airplay around the globe while garnering a small following.
