The Skinny: Pittsburgh’s Paper States released their debut record Be Alone EP. With blues-y guitar riffs and sweet melodies, the band shows songwriting maturity well beyond the members’ ages, which range from 19-21 year olds. “The songs just feel so natural to us. We absolutely loved the writing process and working with Steve and John really helped us hone in on our sound,” says singer Ryan Stack.
Paper States enlisted the help of Steve Soboslai (Punchline) and John Browne (Bright and Early) to produce Be Alone, who helped polish and strengthen the tracks. Kory Gable (I Call Fives, This Time Next Year, The Dangerous Summer) manned the boards, giving the EP a rich and layered texture.
