Boy Hits Car recently wrapped up their extensive “Embrace The Fire Tour” which had them crisscrossing the United States like crazy! Earlier on, just before the tour was starting, we managed to connect with vocalist and guitarist Cregg Rondell to talk gear. Cregg highlighted his favourite gear, namely his Takamine 12 string acoustic/electric.

What one piece of equipment do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Cregg: Takamine 12 string acoustic/electric.

What about it makes it so important to you?
Cregg: Tuned “openly”, the 12er provides BHC with one of the key elements in our sound.

What are the major pros and cons?
Cregg: Pros, among other aspects, is the cut-away, which allows for maximum fret play. Also the built in electronics, and tuner; absolutely essential elements. Cons…Umm, can’t think of any.

How long have you used this piece of equipment and would you ever change it?
Cregg: Been playing Takamine for almost 15 years, and it’s an extremely reliable guitar.

Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Cregg: Support live music!
