The Skinny: Vancouver, British Columbia band Peace recently recorded their sophomore CD, The World is Too Much With Us, on the east coast of Vancouver Island in the small town and birth place of Pamela Anderson Ladysmith. The record caught the attention of David Dickenson of Suicide Squeeze Records who signed the band not long after. The World is Too Much With Us was released on October 16th right in the midst of Peace’s latest North American tour.
The new album’s sound can be described as really well done post-punk. It shows a real maturation in the musicianship of the four band members as well as a tighter and more assured overall sound. Lead singer Dan’s lyrics alternate between images of defiant despair and love-sick yearning, good evidence of why he has been referred to as Vancouver’s “post-punk poet laureate.” Check out the song “Your Hand in Mine” available here for free download.
