The Skinny: Chotto Ghetto is a Los Angeles-based quintet who plays visceral hardcore punk with a sort of experimental metal sensibility. The band formed in 2005 and they draw influences specifically from the Mars Volta, Faith No More and Bad Brains. To date they have released and toured behind three different EPs, which helped them develop a fan base around the U.S.
The band recently got down to writing and recording their first full-length LP which is called Sparkles. The record is a dense, eclectic album that features guest appearances from punk legend Mike Watt and New York area indie sensation Laura Stevenson. Again, Chotto Ghetto worked with producer Tim Gedemer and engineer Bryan Carlstrom (Alice in Chains, The Offspring, Anthrax) at Tranzformer Studios.
