France’s Manzer features Shaxul, who at one point in time was in Deathspell Omega. Orgy and Profanity is a short EP that serves as an excellent introduction to the band, who sound-wise, are most similar to blackened thrash – kind of like Aura Noir.

Right from the get-go, with opening song “Analcoholic Rage”, the band starts off fast and heavy. With catchy riffs they prove themselves to be a serious contender for the blackened thrash throne, especially with the songs “Satanathiest” and “The Metal Side”. Lyrically Manzer wears its metal tradition with pride shouting lyrics such as: “Trendies change like seasons, Fukking useless bipeds. We are no musicians, We’re only metalheads.”

I loved this EP and am interested in hearing what the band has in store for the future – a full-length is demanded as at 15 minutes long, this EP is much too short. It would be cool if Manzer could attract as much attention as Shaxul’s previous band… in my opinion, they are just as good!
