California Wives – “Art History” [SoundCloud Album Stream]

California Wives is a band with an interesting backstory. Back in 2009, the band’s lead vocalist/keyboardist Jayson Kramer decided to leave behind a promising career in medicine for the pursuit of his dream to become a professional musician. Jayson began playing music at the young age of six and played classical piano up until the age of 16. Along the way he started to write songs as a hobby which continued through his years of undergrad at Boston University. And then suddenly Kramer realized that he had no desire to actually go to medical school which helped him take a serious turn towards music.

The Skinny: California Wives is a band with an interesting backstory.

When Jayson moved back to his hometown of Chicago, he met drummer Joe O’Connor and bassist Dan Zima who had been both playing together since high school. They found commonality in their musical tastes and they decided to form California Wives in 2009 with the current lineup being cemented with the addition of lead guitarist Graham Masell in 2012. The group recently released their debut album Art History which has received some great notice, including from New Order’s Peter Hook who appointed California Wives to open his show with The Light at Chicago’s Metro Cabaret. Here is a stream of the entire new album available September 4th.
