Album Review
Windfaerer – “Solar”
2012 has been a great year for metal so far, with all kinds of stellar releases from both bigger metal labels and bands from deep in the underground. Black metal in particular has had a great year with groups like Borgne, Brume d’Automne and Epitimia all putting out fantastic albums.

This said, Solar by New Jersey’s Windfaerer is yet another stellar Black Metal album that gives all of the above bands a run for their money. Instead of raw and dirty Black Metal, Solar is epic BM with soaring hooks and battle-ready Viking hyms. Even non Black Metal fans could find stuff to like here as it’s hard to resist powerful tunes such as “In the Shadows of Giants”. This is great stuff that is highly recommended!
