Album Review
Suture – “Skeletal Vortex”
I’ve mentioned before that one of the appeals of underground death metal is the refusal to change. When you get a death metal album you generally know what you’re going to get: gutteral vocals, blastbeats, buzzsaw guitars and lyrics straight out of ‘Night of the Living Dead’. The only major thing a connoisseur of this type of music cares about beyond these points is if the music is played well.

Suture, while not the best underground death metal band out there, are certainly decent. They have all of the necessary points mentioned above in spades, and some pretty decent songs. The band even ventures into some melodic death metal on the track “In a State of Progressive Disintegration” which is was a nice twist. Standout tracks are “Exiled to Undead” and “Escaping the Confines of My Skin”. Not incredibly original, but decent stuff for fans of the genre.
